Artist Bio




This artist/songwriter turned record company executive has been in the music industry for many years.

Richard Adams began his music career in St. Louis, Mo. Richard’s singing talent was recognized by his eighth grade choir director who gave him private vocal lessons, and eventually gave him soloist duties on many occasions for the choir. At an early age he was performing at nightclubs, and concert halls throughout the St. Louis area.

While in St. Louis, Rich formed a group called The Cashmeres, which was given a recording contract by Emerge Records at which time the group became know as “Mal Adams & The Cashmeres”. This group’s popularity led them to be featured at the opening of The St. Louis Cardinal’s home games at Busch Stadium. The group has also made music history being listed in Soul Harmony Single’s 1960-1990 edition.

Adams moved to Los Angeles in the 1970s where he met Gap Band member/arranger/songwriter/producer Malvin “Dino” Vice, and a friendship, and musical relationship would begin that has spanned over three decades.

Rich (as he is known in the industry) has worked with the likes of Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, Barry White, Ike & Tina Turner, Sharpie’s Bob Kuban, and many others.

Adams is now the CEO, and President of Los Angeles based Play YoSong Records, Inc., which boasts and artist roster of 9 artist, 8 staff producers, 16 songwriters, and 1 in-house music arranger.
